Our Town

Troy is a thriving community with various businesses: banks, insurance offices, retail shops, beauty salons, restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, car dealers and repair shops, lawyers, dentists, doctors, accountants, bed and breakfasts, drug stores, and much more.

Troy is also home to several manufacturing businesses and support companies for the energy industry.
We have numerous churches of all denominations, senior citizens housing complexes, and a food bank to assist the public that are all centrally located.

Our community organizations include the Lion's Club, Rotary Club, Heritage Garden Club, Troy Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars/American Legion, just to name a few.

Our History

Troy Borough was formed in 1845 from the Township. The location of the village became very important because of the businesses that were located there. The first settler of the Borough was Elihu Smead, although the exact date is unknown, it occurred prior to 1803. The first road opened in Troy in 1798.

The Troy Chamber was established in 1845.

The Borough of Troy is located centrally near the western border of the County. The Borough is entirely surrounded by the Township of Troy, as it is located centrally within the Township. The Fall Brook Creek flows from the east to the southern portion of the Borough. Major thoroughfares that allow for easy travel through the Borough include: Main Street, Elmira Street, and Canton Street, also known as Pennsylvania State Routes 14 and 6.

Industry Mix

In 2005, Oil and Gas industries began to survey and lease our Marcellus Shale region for natural resources below ground. This has buoyed our economy by providing jobs and generating a larger consumer base for restaurants, groceries and clothing, housing, vehicle services and gas, medical services, etc.

Dotted by more than 300 family dairy farms, Bradford County has a rich agricultural history. You will find farm fresh eggs and veggies and maple syrup for sale while travelling our country roads.
